Who I work with

  • Individual

I began my career as a therapist working with patients in the individual session setting. Over time, I have learned that the process of being in individual therapy is one of life's true pleasures. It's an environment where you can be yourself without fear of being judged or exploited. It's your time and space to push yourself forward and figure out what works for you emotionally. To find your unique voice that will empower and propel you to new areas of growth and strength. In my individual sessions, together we will create a fostering environment for you to reach your greatest potential.

  • Couples

I truly enjoy working with couples, mostly because I am curious about how people decided to become, well, a couple. Couples work is difficult and I make it clear that it will get both emotionally and physically uncomfortable in the beginning of the journey. That said, at the end of every tunnel there is light, leading to profound discoveries of oneself and of each other. These discoveries will identify relational patterns and dynamics that have held the couple back emotionally and clarify what needs to be done moving forward. In my work with couples, I take an in-depth history of the couple’s life together, and of their family of origin to help me understand the relational patterns that exist. I also help instill new ways of communicating to each other, which moves the couples emotional journey forward.

  • Children & Adolescents

My work with children and adolescents has been a constant source of amazement. It is staggering to me how much I continue to learn about myself when I work with this population. My approach to working with children and adolescents is to meet the child where they are emotionally, without any expectations, regardless of the child's presentation. I employ the use of play therapy because it is truly the emotional language of children. I give them a space to be themselves in a way that fosters exploration and creativity. As a therapist, I am mindful that I am working on their time clock and not mine. Over time, a trusting environment ensues and work begins, leading to profound discoveries that pave the way to a happier, more confident and more secure child.

  • Groups

Group work is truly fascinating work in that it affords the group members to examine more intimately their actions (or lack thereof) in an environment that may resemble a setting that they are familiar with but haven't quite figured out how to function in it. Weather we are talking about family, work, school or social settings, the individual finds it difficult to navigate through a group dynamic. Participating in a group lends itself to working on one's social adaptation skills, setting and adhering to boundaries, and working on conflict resolution (ie. anger management). It also helps with confidence building, leadership skills and finding one voice.

I run a number of groups from men's, women's, and teenage adolescent groups. Additionally, I run a group for athletes and artists. Regardless of the make-up of the group, the group serves the function of understanding ourselves as it relates to relationships. The group work affords the individual to look at themselves and to see how others perceive them so to better understand the therapeutic path that lies ahead. In short, group work is a powerful experience that many of my patients vastly enjoy and thrive in.
